NOVUS Systems, Inc. Launches ECO-DUNE(TM) Web-Site
HOUSTON, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Houston-based NOVUS Systems,
Inc. (NOVUS) announced today that it has launched a new web-site, www.ecodune.com,
to market its new sand dune restoration product, Eco-Dune(TM).
Eco-Dune(TM) is a restoration process that utilizes organic
material to build a natural dune that catches windblown sand and
provides an organic base to support plant growth. Over time, the
dune grows in height and mass as sea breezes blow sand back and
forth across the beach. Plant life is supported and enhanced by
the underlying organic material bringing strength and long term
stability to the sand dune. NOVUS has a patent pending for the
Eco-Dune(TM) process styled ``Beach Restoration and Regeneration
Systems, Methods and Compositions''.
``We expect the product to be well-received because of its low
cost, fast installation and long-term effectiveness that can't be
found elsewhere,'' explained Steve Ghormley, Vice President of
Business Development. ``The initial installation process is
completed very quickly, with little disruption to property-owners
and visitors. From that point, nature takes over the process. The
Eco-Dune(TM) material has unprecedented sand-catching ability, so
dunes are established rapidly and effortlessly,'' Mr. Ghormley
added.
Earlier this year, NOVUS received approval from the Texas Parks
and Wildlife Department to test this innovative natural dune
restoration process. ``We're very pleased with Texas Parks and
Wildlife's participation in our effort to find a solution to sand
dune erosion,'' stated Steve Ghormley. Mr. Ghormley added, ``We
installed the ECO-DUNE on the Galveston Island State Park on April
4, 2000 and have been working closely with Dr. Jim Webb of Texas
A&M University to monitor the effectiveness and long-term
viability of the process. The test dune has surpassed our every
expectation.'' Photos of the test dune can be viewed at the new
web-site.
A recent FEMA Study concludes that beach erosion is a serious
problem and that ``one of every four buildings near a coastline
will be destroyed or severely damaged by erosion in the next sixty
(60) years.''
